Mother Bethel AME Church, in collaboration with the Colored Conventions Project, the Center for Black Digital Research (#DigBlk) at Penn State University, and the Black Print/Black Bib Initiative at the University of Delaware, invites you to join us for the 2026 Colored Convention Conference, taking place September 18–20 in Philadelphia.

Together, we will commemorate the birth of the Colored Conventions Movement at Mother Bethel in 1830 while exploring the enduring legacy of Black freedom movements from the nineteenth century to today.

Scholars, educators, artists, students, faith leaders, community members, and the public are invited to gather for three days of conversation, learning, cultural programming, and community engagement centered on Black history, public memory, civic action, and the ongoing pursuit of freedom and justice.

On September 20th, Mother Bethel invites you to join them in their sacred sanctuary for Faith & Freedom 250: Constitution Sunday—an unforgettable evening of music, historic reenactments, and community reflection in partnership with the Marian Anderson Historical Society.

Join Mother Bethel AME for the official street renaming and celebration of Bishop Richard Allen Way! We will be gathering at 9:00 am at the Historic St. George’s United Methodist Church and then walking over to Mother Bethel AME Church at 10:00 am.

The ceremony and celebration will be taking place at 11:00 am. We look forward to acknowledging this historic event!
