2026 Religious Architecture & Art Award Winners

We are pleased to announce 12 winners of the 2026 Faith & Form International Awards for Religious Architecture & Art. The awards program was founded in 1978 with the goal of honoring the best in architecture, liturgical design, and art for religious spaces. The 2026 awards recognized excellence in the creation, restoration, and re-use of religious buildings as well as distinction in the realms of liturgical art and sacred landscape.

2026 Faith & Form Award Winner. The new chapel maintains a 155-year tradition while supporting the seminary’s future. It is a living place of formation where memory, devotion, and faith connect generations by giving salvaged sacred furnishings renewed life in a space alive with light, sound, and texture.

2026 Faith & Form Honor Award Winner. In this renovation, the portico transforms an existing secondary entrance into a primary entrance through design interventions that aid in wayfinding, accessibility, and conveying Catholic theology.

2026 Faith & Form Award Winner. Kol Rinah unites two established Jewish congregations on a single campus in St. Louis, transforming a former Baptist church to create a distinct identity for this newly formed synagogue.

North Shore Congregation Israel: Frank Memorial Hall and Rebecca K. Crown Social Hall

2026 Faith & Form Award Winner. Drawing inspiration from the original sanctuary’s botanical forms and gilded ark, Frank Hall was redesigned to extend the sanctuary’s spiritual character into this previously neutral pre-function space.

San Francisco Zen Center: Beginner’s Mind Temple

2026 Faith & Form Award Winner. Originally designed in 1922 by Julia Morgan as a residence for young professional Jewish women, the building became the home of San Francisco Zen Center in 1969. Since then, it has served as a place for reflection and connection for a diverse population and residential living for Zen practitioners.

Scotland AME Zion Church

2026 Faith & Form Award Winner. Housing a new sanctuary, a multipurpose space, a dining lobby, a meeting space, and a coffee bar, this transformation preserves sacred history, strengthens community ties, and ensures Scotland AME Zion Church remains a spiritual home for generations to come.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mesa Arizona Temple

2026 Faith & Form Honor Award Winner. The Mesa Temple renovation honors the connection between people, place, and history. Built in 1923 by early pioneers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the temple’s Neoclassical exterior became a sacred landmark for Mesa.

2026 Faith & Form Honor Award Winner. Long-term observation of this building over a ten-year period—including the monitoring of movements, crack geometry, and their evolution—made it possible to identify the underlying causes of the damage and implement targeted interventions.

2026 Faith & Form Award Winner. This restoration addressed systemic envelope failures at domes, roofs, balustrades, and facades, while upgrading electrical, life safety, and accessibility systems and conserving historic interiors.

Marian Gardens at Christ Cathedral

2026 Faith & Form Award Winner. The Marian Gardens are a series of four exterior passive prayer spaces that are reflective of the Sacred Mysteries of the New Testament. Each of the spaces embodies the attributes of the selected Gospel verses, reflecting Mary’s experiences of the life of Jesus.
