About the Program

The Pennsylvania’s Faithful Fund supports and preserves historic religious properties in rural PA where they serve as needed community spaces—meeting places, concert venues, childcare facilities, social service providers, food pantries, and more. Preserving these historic buildings that house neighborhood resources bolsters rural economic resilience and help future generations thrive.

Grants between $50,000 and $100,000 are awarded to support projects such as repair and restoration of roofs, towers, walls, and windows. Awardees receive training and support in project planning, community engagement, and space sharing. Sites are located within towns populated under 7,500 and outside of any urban areas designated by the US Department of Agriculture for Rural Business Programs. Additionally, buildings are either eligible for or on the National Register for Historic Places.

The Pennsylvania’s Faithful Fund is supported through a grant from the Historic Revitalization Subgrant Program (Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grants) as administered by the National Park Service Department of the Interior.
